Overstock.com Mobile Site
This site was built completely in house. It was optimized for iPhone, Android, and Palm Pre. This site was ranked one of the top mobile optimized websites. It exceeded expectations and increased mobile revenue. It grew to over 1 million daily visitors in the first few months.
Stakeholder Interviews & Requirements Gathering
I used most of the same requirements as the iPhone App but dropped the game.
Initial Wireframes
Some of the main changes in the wireframes from the iPhone app was a change in navigation. I needed to integrate a nav that could have more items in it and that would be at the top in the header.
Mockups
I created all the flows and mockups in Adobe Fireworks. I needed to get special executive approval for a unique mobile version of the logo that dropped the words “overstock.com” and left the single box “O” for the logo.
Development and Deployment
I created all the views for the mobile website. I coded them all from scratch using HTML, CSS, and Javascript. I investigated many javascript frameworks and ended up using jQtouch. It allowed me to do a lot of the asynchronous interaction, and create some iphone-esqe transitions.
